ABOUT CAR 1:

Blackpool boat car 233 arrived at San Francisco in October 2013. Muni shop forces with encouragement from Market Street Railway did a great job rushing the car into operable condition for the heritage transit weekend of November 2-3, 2013. There it ran as a demonstrator to announce its future use as a passenger car. It did operate a number of Heritage Weekends.

In recent years 233 has been undergoing repair. In June 2024 the car was being tested for service during that summer.

Boat car 233 in testing mode to break it in after its recent rebuilding. Seen turning from The Embarcadero to Don Chee Way to Steuart St. on June 3, 2024. Picture 085 shows Melbourne car 496, which had begun summer operation on Sundays and Mondays. The 233 is intended to operate on these two days. Twenty-two photos added 06/05/24.
